Pele Pele
PelePele is a peri peri chicken restaurant in Oslo inspired by South African, Mozambican, and Portuguese food traditions. Built around flame-grilled chicken and bold, honest flavors, the concept positions itself as a culturally rooted alternative to generic fast casual dining. The project involved full concept development, branding, interior design, and execution. The visual identity draws from Southern African references, incorporating geometric pattern work, strong color blocking, and a confident typographic system. The name PelePele references the African bird’s eye chili, central to peri peri cuisine, grounding the concept in authenticity rather than trend. The interior was designed to feel energetic, warm, and immersive, combining bold murals, custom artwork, layered materials, and graphic surfaces to create a space that feels expressive but intentional. Environmental graphics and large-scale pattern applications became defining features of the space. The scope also included menu development, packaging direction, content creation, photography, and social media expression. The result is a tightly integrated brand where food, culture, visual identity, and physical environment work together to create a distinctive and memorable dining experience.
